GNU/Linux is Bigger Than Apple and Microsoft (But Not Bragging About That)
THE GNU/Linux "sphere" is a silent, modest giant. There's no marketing department to "make lots of noise" or show off. GNU/Linux is massive though, and it is only growing over time. It runs on servers in the back room of every country, even in the poles. It runs a growing number of election campaigns/processes, political Web sites, public services, private services, and personal computers, personal gadgets/devices etc. There's almost nothing GNU/Linux hasn't yet conquered or is rapidly conquering. It's just so difficult to compete against something anyone can share and is compelled to share rather than 'hoard' (the GPL helped Linux "beat" BSD).
The way to keep the growth going, or to moreover accelerate this growth, it to talk about it, to "advertise" it so to speak. We need more bloggers out there to write about the topic, even if just to boast about proprietary games running on the platform. Even the founder of GNU/Linux openly stated that it's better if such games (DRM notwithstanding, not to mention rootkits like "anticheat") run on GNU/Linux rather than Windows. At least we're getting users further and further away from the tentacles of Microsoft.
GNU/Linux has grown a lot since this site was born in 2004. It no longer needs to fight for its very survival. GNU/Linux is here to stay. █
