A FAVOURITE project of ours, Gnote, has just achieved another major milestone/release, which constitutes a potential migration away from Novell's troublesome Mono. The new software is already being pushed for inclusion in Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic) and Debian GNU/Linux too. ⬆

The simple truth is, that projects are forked when the needs of the original application aren't meeting the needs of another group of people.

In the case it's the threat of patents. Forking is good. It gives a wake up call the the original devs and gives us users more choice !!!

The Mono proponents complain about licence compatibility. Gnote is GPLv3 (or later).
