In India, the One Percent is Microsoft and Mozilla
THE statCounter statistics aren't a gold standard or a good yardstick, but we don't have much else and at the very least one can focus on trends rather than absolute numbers.
GNU/Linux grew to about 16% on desktops/laptops in India, according to statCounter. Perhaps more curiously, Firefox fell from 32% in 2010 to just 1% and Microsoft fell from 61% in 2009 (it was higher in prior years) to just 1%.
India is where a lot of software innovations and development happen, so this kind of matters a lot. It's also the world's most populous nation. █
