  • Claiming a letter

    It is part of the Jewish tradition to "own" a letter of a newly written sefer Torah. It symbolizes that each person, like a letter in a Torah scroll (which contains a total of 304,805 characters), is part of one big story of God. Traditionally, "every letter and every space of the Torah" is sacred.

    I have a letter yod, the smallest character and the 10th letter of the Hebrew alef-bet, within the word "riach" (which means fragrance or aroma). This is found in Genesis 8:21, which is read on an autumn shabbat as part of Parashat Noach.

    • I needed to adjust myself to fit in

      When I did concern myself with the smolnet idea in 2021 beginning with the Gemini protocol, I was very intrigued by the technical aspects of minimalism and simple principles. The big web is a mess of BigTech conglomerates which try to squeeze every bit of information out of the user and an ongoing process of 'enshittification'. I like the idea of a small and slow web. The IndyWeb movement is very promising. Local small sites from the people for the people. So I built up a gemini capsule to begin with. I wanted to be part of the movement of taking back the web.

    • Code Smells

      Another question is can we make the Snek instead move away from that other location. Or what happens if there are a lot of critters who need to move towards or away from a point, and one does not want to calculate a go-towards or move-away path for each and every critter? Or could we make the Snek circle the target?
