European Parliament Elections 2024: Daniel Pocock Running as an Independent Candidate
DAYS ago I became aware that Daniel Pocock had decided to enter politics, impending elections permitting. He wants to deal with local and international issues, taking advantage of his track record in technology. "Research found that some of the world's largest companies have spent over $120,000 trying to censor me even before I announced my candidacy. I guess that I might have something to say that is in the public interest," he has said (Daniel Pocock, Nomination for Ireland, Midlands-North-West, European Parliament Elections 2024).
His bio is similar to this Wikipedia draft.
His MEP candidacy was accepted in Ireland the other day. Remember he already won an election at FSFE and attempted to run for Debian Project Leader before he was obstructed by the clique that tries to censor him.
"I traveled to Galway today and met the returning officer," he told me. "She has accepted my nomination for Midlands North West." He is listed here.
Background about the district can be found here. "In 2019," Pocock said, "the district elected 4 MEPs. For 2024, the district elects 5 MEPs. One of the sitting MEPs is not going to contest the election so at least 2 seats will be taken by new MEPs."
Pocock did a lot of technical work, but most know him for the community "politics".
These matters have become "political" in nature when people's technical contributions were ignored in favour of horse-trading and personal attacks. Regardless, that's all we know at the moment. █
