After Fund-raising Campaign the Free Software Foundation Still Raises About $13,000 Per Week (Without Campaigning for New Donors/Members)
About $478,000 (total) or $78,000 in 6 weeks:
Free software milestone for the Free Software Foundation (FSF) 6 weeks ago:
Richard Stallman in the Board is not a liability.
WE are nearing the end of winter. When winter began Dr. Miriam Bastian (relatively new at the FSF [1, 2]) wrote: "Free software makes up the building blocks to so many things and is an important tool for building and sustaining a free society. You can use free software to build programs that work for you, combine things as you wish, and share these building blocks with others. In a free society and with technology being all over, everyone should have these essential freedoms. This is why the Free Software Foundation (FSF) has published and promoted free software licenses since 1985, sponsors the GNU System, and campaigns for free software adoption everywhere."
Later this month the GNU Manifesto turns 40. Its author was filmed raising money for the FSF last week. They're doing OK.
Free software is more relevant than ever because of political factors. Free software is the way to go. Forget "open source" - the term and its guardian are dead [1, 2]. We have an ongoing series about that. █
