Microsoft OSI Apparently Still Reading Techrights Closely, Trying to Make Face-Saving PR Moves
3 months ago (deva ju): Microsoft OSI Reads Techrights Closely
We mentioned the site's demise less than a week ago:
And then again a couple of days ago. Then this (the following day):
We currently have a long series in motion that's about the Open Source Initiative (OSI). It's one of 3 series we're running at the moment.
The site or the blog of the Open Source Initiative (OSI) is hardly active and there's a reason for that.
How about opensource.net (OpenSource.net), of which OSI is a steward because IBM dropped the ball and had to pretend it had never dropped the ball (it got rid of all the people who ran opensource.com)?
OSI and its site that was supposed to carry the torch (from opensource.com) is under fire. opensource.org (OSI) was meant to carry on/forward the site from IBM Red Hat at opensource.net, but the baton wasn't properly passed and OSI people kept dropping it. As noted above, they keep trying to pretend what's dead is not dead (Monty Python skits come to mind). It usually happens a day or so after we mention months of inactivity. This was no exception. They changed the theme (in the CMS), but hardly added anything new. The latest article in OpenSource.net is still dated January 15, 2025.
They have long had this reactionary rhythm, wherein it feels like we can 'control' what they publish and when by merely highlighting facts about them.
So as usual, any time we mention it's dead they react within a day or so. Hey, Nick Vidal (Microsoft shill), if you're reading this, publish something. Your Microsoft blog (ClearlyDefined) and OSI blog show you as "MIA". Are you still at the OSI at all? Many prior ClearlyDefined moles (who had entered the OSI) left very suddenly. Maybe they realised what their real role was and got fed up? Just like Bill Hilf? █
