Being in Social Control Media Means Exposing Oneself to Heckling
Richard Stallman does not (either himself or directly) post to any social control media; some bots do. The above earned him some heckles (no, we won't link), which were made simpler by these bots. As I said in 2020, even when I passively "posted" in Twitter (I didn't; Twitter just got copies of what I had posted in JoinDiaspora*) I'd habitually get heckled by corporates who didn't like my views on some things.
When stallmansupport.org
joined Mastodon we considered it a misguided communication strategy; and indeed, only a short time later that account got suspended.
To be clear, not being "in" social control media does not mean averting scrutiny but being less visible or less directly reference-able. So not being there can help. It also saves many other hassles. "Passive" posting does not mean you can ignore all responses - for once thing, that would be perceived as rude. █
