Summary: A company that publicly curses Free software literally buys its way into article vacancies
JUST OVER a week ago we showed that ZDNet had embedded a deceitful commercial plug as an "article". The lies were later shown and they came from an entity called Nominum, which now responds to the backlash using a sponsored post ("By Nominum (Sponsored Post)," it says at the top).
Was the ZDNet "article" also a "Sponsored Post"? Are publications putting placements up for sale? And if so, then it is worth identifying those. As we shall show in the next post, The Register may be doing exactly that, but The Register has also
just responded to Nominum's 'damage control'.
Commercial DNS software firm Nominum has responded to the backlash against its criticism of open source alternatives.
In other words, it bought itself a spot (perhaps "yet another") from which to recite marketing talking points.
