Gaming Pundit Asserts That Microsoft in Charge of Activision/Blizzard Will Mean Lots More Layoffs
AS we correctly predicted weeks ago, there are Microsoft mass layoffs ahead of the fake "results" (due later this week) and workers are becoming cynical. Aside from many waves of Microsoft layoffs this year, in recent months Activision/Blizzard announced layoffs several times. We registered reports about that in Daily Links. It doesn't look encouraging for anyone at those companies and putting more lipstick on this pig is just a temporary psychological 'fix'.
This site that is nearly 30 years old, Nintendojo.com, says today that "if there’s any silver lining to be found here [...] I just feel bad for the workers that will be looking for new jobs." (the headline of the article is, "The Activision/Blizzard Deal Stinks")
Microsoft not only froze the salaries of workers (amid massive inflation, so it is effectively a round of pay cuts) but also significantly reduced the compensation of executives. Given fuller the context, we've long assumed that taking over Activision/Blizzard was about offloading Microsoft's massive debt* onto another "shell", which can be 'liquefied' or dissolved over time.
