The List of Sites or Sources for Linux News is Getting Shorter Over Time (Despite GNU and Linux Steadily Growing in Usage)
A lack of publishing begets lack of educated, informed population (a return to Dark Ages where rulers leverage mass ignorance)
TODAY we technically said goodbye to ZDNet (blacklisted) after we had published "ZDNet Kills the Linux RSS Feed (Syndication Redirected to Loads of Marketing Spam and Fake Articles)" (5 days ago).
"Which is a shame since ZDNet was excellent 22+ years ago," an associate recalls, "with full sections (plural) and staff dedicated to Linux and FOSS. Presumably it was dependency on advertising money from Microsoft and its partners which took ZDNet down."
The issue here isn't Linux per se. The Web isn't doing well and journalism online is perishing. It's not helping that perverts and misogynists also attack female writers. The way things are going, there may not be much literature/writings left online in a few years (again, not limited to Linux; the issue is a lot bigger) and what's left will be locked behind proprietary 'webapps' (not Web pages), sometimes behind paywalls.
One temporary solution to this is to squeeze harder what's left, but not to resort to social control media, which "Unverified Hearsay". █
