Asia Continues to Liberate Itself
...from Western influence
LAST month (only a few weeks ago) and the month before that we mentioned that GNU/Linux had grown relatively fast in Asia, rising to about 6% if one counts ChromeOS and if one counts the data from statCounter (except for studying trends, as opposed to absolute numbers which are biased by the data sources).
The West (collectively speaking) isn't happy about these trends, as the regimes and their spy agencies would rather spread their back-doored prisons everywhere. Not just domestically (they don't care about the privacy of their own citizens, either).
If we're being honest with ourselves and avoid bigotry like racism and overt nationalism, all human beings deserve to have computing that they're in full control of. Anything else is slavery, whether digital (indirection) or implicitly direct.
Those who advocate BSD and GNU/Linux may have to accept that it's wrong to coerce and control other people, no matter how allegedly well-meaning or benignly-intended the controllers are. █
