The Image That Scares Apple
Summary: Steve Jobs’ (and Cook’s) company is still afraid of female anatomy
The other day we wrote about Apple's censorship of software relating to drone strikes. According to Stallman, not just software but also content is being censored by Apple:
Apple dropped from iTunes the erotic novel, The Proof of the Honey, saying it is because of the cover.
Repeated acts of censorship are an additional reason to condemn iTunes, but not the only one. Even if there were no censorship, you ought to refuse to buy from iTunes because it tramples the rights of its own users.
There is nothing too provocative in this cover, which can be seen here. It says:
A publisher has claimed that Apple has removed Salwa Al Neimi’s erotic novel The Proof of the Honey from the iTunes store because its cover – which features part of a woman’s naked back and bottom – is “inappropriate”.
So Apple is not just against sex but also against banal photos of the human body (not genitalia). █

You might want Apple to sell you things they do not. It is fine to refuse to buy their products because you do not like their policies. But it is *not* find to out and out lie and claim they are “censoring” or preventing you from buying something because they are not selling it to you. It is not as if they have anything near a monopoly on books or even ebooks. Apple is selecting what they offer, not censoring what you can get. Stallman is just pushing his normal over-reactionary, double-talking BS. Hey, does he sell copies of that book? If not is he censoring it also? Stallman is irrational and illogical.

Dunno how these people wash if the sight of human flesh offends them so much.
With any luck at least they’ll die out since they’ll be too shocked to make babies.

Who said they were offended?

This issue is not so much with the human body as it is Apple’s dictatorship mentality. you know that you are handing over freedom along with the money, if you have any awareness, at all. When you become an iToy user, you are agreeing to goosestep to Apple’s drum (to step even further closer to Godwin’s Law). Apple is about exterminating choice, including a user’s freedom to choose to read, learn about, or enjoy as that user sees fit.

I use OS X and have not been asked to give up any freedoms at all. None. Heck, if I wanted to burn my Mac and buy another machine I could. If I wanted to run Windows or Linux on my Mac I could. Apple does *nothing* to stop this and even helps make it easier.
