  Desktop Cube – The desktop cube has to be one of my favorite plugins for Compiz Fusion. It is absolutely amazing what you can do with the cube. You can add a few effects, turn the cube into a sphere or Cylinder, have the windows pop out of the cube, have it transparent, or even have a fish tank in the middle of the cube. The basic function of the cube, though, is to organize your workspace into a cube of course. However, the shape changes depending on how many desktops you have. It can be a flat sheet, triangle, cube, etc.

      Google’s Android team announces the availability of the Android Dev Phone 1. The device is the first SIM-unlocked and hardware-unlocked device based on the Android mobile operating system, a Linux-based OS designed as an alternative to smart mobile and wireless phones based on Microsoft Windows Mobile, Nokia Symbian, Apple’s iPhone and RIM. The device should appeal to applications developers who won’t buy the Android-based T-Mobile G1 because they don’t subscribe to T-Mobile’s network.

      Very nice, very nice indeed. I am not sure (after looking at Top) whether this would truly run well on a 128Mb Ram system, but it certainly runs well on mine.

      The look is plain enough to be uncluttered, and slick enough to not be the Xfce default theme. Everything I have works out-of-the-box, and I am very impressed.

    A. It is interesting what is happening with the mini PC form factor. These sub $500 PCs, some of which run Linux to save money, were lighting the world on fire for a while. They are incredibly small and light; many have small solid-state hard drives and long battery life. The Dell you mention was on sale on Black Friday for $299, which sounds like a great deal.
