Ubuntu GNU/Linux Users Reject F-Spot (Mono)
Summary: F-Spot poll shows that Ubuntu users are not interested in it
GNU/LINUX users and developers largely reject Mono and these recent poll results, which were extracted from here, show that F-Spot is specifically rejected. The ‘approval rate’ (in terms of percentage) is something like a single-digit number. Most Ubuntu users also opposed removal of the GIMP (based on a poll), but Canonical decided to remove it anyway (with the excuse that F-Spot can compensate for its absence, an excuse from a former Microsoft employee). █

Since when is ’23′ something like a single digit number? Roy didn’t actually give us the exact number at the time of posting, rather a vague and inaccurate suggestion of what the number might be.

It seems Roy used the results from the first category (7% when I checked), while you are using the sum of the first three categories.
The first three categories are:
– Yes, It Does All I Need It To.
– Yes, But Only Because There Is Nothing Better.
– It Could Be Better. I Use It Cos Its There.
“Approval rate” is not well defined, so you two could argue all night if you wanted to do so. [So far it doesn't seem Roy is that interested in doing so.]

Yes, it’s definition dependent. Even if you aggregate categories 1+2, then the number is tiny.
Anyway, these results are there in The Source. I’m not hiding them.

Microsoft boosters tried to get rid of OpenOffice.org this time around, too. That was put down and OpenOffice.org stays in Ubuntu for a while longer.
During the week or two that remains, how about a push to drop all Mono applications from the CD?

Or better yet, have all Mono boosters dismissed from the project. They can go start their own distro rather than turning Ubuntu into a dump with their toxic presences.

I think it’s a staffing issue.

When Microsoft products start showing up, it is always a staffing issue. It’s not hard to track down who is at fault there and dismiss them from Ubuntu and Debian. Actions speak louder than words, they are doing what they can to destroy those two projects.

In Twitter, yesterday I saw the Mono Guard chatting with top people at Ubuntu (like Popey). Dana Blankenhorn called it “charm offensives” if it’s done by Microsoft.
