Ubuntu Makes Novell’s Mono a “Master Of The Universe” (MOTU)
Summary: Mono Booster allowed increased access to decisions at Ubuntu
Rather than shun Mono, Canonical Ubuntu is giving it more power by making Jo Shields an MOTU. One employee person from Ubuntu says to Jo, “somewhat selfishly, I hope your opinion on the Banshee/Rhythmbox thing will hold more weight now!” We’ve already explained why this is a terrible idea. █

This is interesting news, I wish you good luck Jo Shields!

Wow, I’m a Canonical employee now? I better ask for all the salary they owe me since… well, since I’ve become one without being notified.

I guess Daniel Holbach isn’t one either, despite the domain/suffix. I’ll correct this.

Canonical employees have both an @canonical.com and an @ubuntu.com (though I’m not quite sure that *all* of them do…the ones that work on Launchpad but not Ubuntu might not have the @ubuntu one…). Ubuntu Members have @ubuntu.com (whether developers or not).

Thanks, Mackenzie.

Daniel is one. If you look at his Launchpad page, you’ll notice he has an «@canonical.com» address (in case this is what caused you confusion, «@ubuntu.com» addresses are available for all Ubuntu Members, of which many are from the community: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Membership).

Canonical doesn’t “make” people MOTUs. The community does.
Next time ask around before writing such stuff.
Daniel is staff, indeed. So am I (just in case!).
Wow, some minimal research would confirm all that instead of guessing!

Roy, you should probably scrap this whole post before you damage your, err, reputation. It is a pure concentrate of factual errors and sensationalism. Moreso than usual.

I’ve already crossed out the connection to Canonical (it’s a Ubuntu thing, not a Canonical thing). The rest is correct.

Oh no! They rewarded a person who has done a lot for Ubuntu with the tools and thanks he deserves! That’s terrible! How can they do such a bad thing!
