Rob Enderle Guarantees “Amazing Numbers”, Show E-mails to Microsoft

Posted in Apple, Courtroom, Deception, GNU/Linux, Microsoft, Vista, Windows at 7:00 am by Dr. Roy Schestowitz

WW HAVE ALREADY SHOWN, using court evidence in fact, that Microsoft was working with Waggener Edstrom and Maureen O'Gara to “plant” anti-Linux stories.

We recently showed how close Rob Enderle is to Microsoft and a reader of ours has found another gem. From page 19 of this set of evidence [PDF] (the last E-mail to Barry):

From: Rob Enderle [mailto:renderle@enderlegroup.com]
Sent: Monday, August 29, 2005 11:06 PM
To: Barry Goffe
CC: Lisa Worthington (Waggener Edstrom)
Subject: RE: glass vs. non-glass

Well this is what happens when you set expectation high then pull features out. Few people know that Jaguar should have been Panther as a result Apple was praised for Jaguar and Panther while Microsoft is already being lambasted for crippled Vista.

[...]

I get to do a lot of columns these days, could guarantee each of these titles not only would get published they would make the front page or pull amazing numbers.

[...]

One thing has changed since ’85 we have blogs now.

[...]

The press was taken through the product and every time a feature is dropped the calls come in with the take that Vista is just smoke and mirrors now, I can turn some of these but there are limitations to what I can do.

Waggener Edstrom is receiving a copy, so they are in the background and they have ongoing correspondence with Microsoft and Enderle. Watch how he sells out, revealing intentions to “turn”. There is some more interpretation here where headlines are sort of being pondered or negotiated. Linux is mentioned too. Eric Lai has already done some damage control.

“Analysts sell out – that’s their business model… But they are very concerned that they never look like they are selling out, so that makes them very prickly to work with.”

as I recall Novell used to have people go through our garbage (before I was in MS). The 136 page pdf does not seem to show your quote. I didn’t read word for word, but couldn’t find it. Will have to give a better read. Oddly enough, the part I did read sounds like MS.

    Help those that help us.

Don’t fight, don’t use lawyers, don’t try to ‘prove’ things.

Just do better than the competition does.

I think you have missunderstood what the titles were and it’s a worse crime than you think. He was promissing NOT publish titles and articles that bash M$ as well as to publish praise. If I’m not mistaken, the next letter in line lists the titles and stories he’s talking about and they are all doozies. So, he’s promissing to leave his readers ignorant rather than to create a storm of misleading publicity that would benefit his publishers. The “turn” is a promise of damage control and perception management as blogers and other tech writers less favored with M$ previews slowly understand the truth of the situation – but he thought that would fail.

Ultimately, he was right but all parties involved should be furious. M$, despite their “all analysts sell out” attitude, should see it as extortion. Publishers and readers should see it as a complete breach of faith. M$’s perception management did failand Vista did freeze the whole market. Honest reviews, which detailed real technical and ethical problems, were published to negate noise about non issues and lies about real ones. None of that is any consolation to the few readers who dropped thousands of dollars into the Vista waste basket. It’s this kind of well documented dishonesty which is pushing customers, OEMs and the tech press away from M$.

The pdf is 48 pages long, Robert. See page 17 for the start of the exchange. If your PDF reader does not show page numbers under the thumbnails, use the big blue text shown on the top of each page to navigate. Not all of the 60 pages presented to the court were included in the PDF.

    @Richard,

This ‘twitter’ person’s real identity is William H. Hill, of Baton Rouge, LA. This is his personal website.

There is an unfortunate tendency towards insult and derision when anonymity and the confrontational style of this blog are combined, and more than a few people have been attacked here by him while trying to engage Roy Schestowitz in dialogue. I hope that’s not the case with you, but at least you’ll know who it is you’re talking to.

Note: writer of this comment adds absolutely nothing but stalking and personal attacks against readers, as documented here.

I wonder what’s the real depth and breadth of the media corruption that works for Microsoft. Thanks for bringing this up, Roy.

BTW, it would be nice to have a link in your articles to some background information of the people who are included. One can always google, but the results are not always very useful and you may also wonder, if there’s another visible person with the same name.

You’re right. I try to do this through linkage, as opposed to repetition, but I was a tad negligent this time.

    In a nutshell:

“I saw what appeared to be a word-for-word copy of about every third line of code in the central module of the Linux kernel” — Rob Enderle

“Many Linux supporters are a bunch of potty-mouthed malcontents. Enterprises are better off staying away from Linux and open source” — Rob Enderle

“Linux is being widely used on the desktop in the third world, where applications are limited and labor is inexpensive…” — Rob Enderle

“I have a hard time seeing the Zealots as any different from terrorist… I strongly believe that if September 11 showed us anything, it was that zealots” — Rob Enderle

  8. Technical Failure of the European Patent Office (EPO) a Growing Cause for Concern

The problem associated with Battistelli's strategy of increasing so-called 'production' by granting in haste everything on the shelf is quickly being grasped by patent professionals (outside EPO), not just patent examiners (inside EPO)
